Even before recorded history, our ancestors flew birds of prey. From the Steppes of Asia, to medieval Europe, from five thousand years ago to the present day, Falconry has become a way of life for Falconers around the world.
Whether or not you have experienced Falconry before, you will get a chance to handle these magnificent creatures, letting them fly from your gloved hand and returning to feed. It is a profound experience to interact so closely with a hunting animal.
At Hawkeye School of Falconry, we are totally dedicated to this Ancient Sport of Kings. This, the noblest of all field sports, gives you the unique opportunity to personally fly, handle, feed and interact with some of our trained Hawks and Owls. We adhere to a very high standard of Falconry and only use practicing Falconers for all our services.
Hawkeye Falconry Ireland provides Falconry experiences at our School on the beautiful grounds of Lyrath Estate, in the medieval city of Kilkenny.
We provide a selection of private experiences sure to make your holiday truly exceptional.
Spent a weekend at the Lyrath Estate in September with my best friend and did the Falconry which was in the grounds of the hotel. We were blessed with the weather. It was an absolutely fantastic experience and I would highly recommend it. John was just lovely, very friendly and informative and we had a great laugh with him. He made us feel totally at ease with the birds straight away. Loads of great photo opportunities. The birds were amazing and we also had the added bonus of seeing Maggie the owl who was just beautiful.
Incredible activity during our Waterford Staycation. So delighted to have done this, what an experience! Myself and my partner enjoyed every second of our Falconry experience with Caroline, Egbert the Harris Hawk and Nelson the Whitefaced Scops Owl, they were Amazing. Caroline was wonderful, and was so full of knowledge of both birds and the history of falconry, she was also extremely patient and helpful with where was best to take photos and videos. Could not recommend this activity enough!!!
